Marketplace case study
Bidding
Real-time bidding that makes hiring faster, more competitive and more transparent.
The problem
Hiring on a marketplace can feel slow and opaque. A client posts a project, waits, and compares offers that arrive on no particular schedule, while freelancers have little sense of where they stand. Slow, static interactions make it harder for both sides to commit.
How I approached it
I defined the real-time bidding experience and its rules: how bids are placed, what each side can see, and how the process moves toward a decision. The goal was a process that is more competitive and more transparent for clients and freelancers alike.
Bidding launched as part of a wider marketplace push alongside the wallet, payments and AI matching, so I coordinated scope with engineering to make sure the pieces worked together. The same period saw the funnel and marketing efforts bring a surge of new users.
The outcome
Real-time bidding made hiring faster and more transparent for both sides. Together with the wallet, payments, AI matching and funnel work, the marketplace grew by 6,000+ new users in a single week.
What it taught me
Transparency creates momentum. When both sides can see what is happening, decisions come faster.
